Dresser-Rand Fixture and Jib Design

Olean, NY

Project Objective

The client required a transportation fixture (skid) to hold large, heavy components for fork truck lift and transportation.

Unique Project Features

The skids were required to have the capability to support very large loads.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus designed a transportation fixture to hold large, heavy components for fork truck lift and transportation. The project included site visits and interviews with the fixture’s intended operators.  Their comments were incorporated into the design.

Encorus designed a transportation fixture / pallet to be used in daily operations to handle and move materials around the facility. The fixture was sheathed with a plastic wear surface to protect the products it transports.

Encorus designed an exterior mast-type jib crane with a 20 foot span and 4,000 pound capacity.

Encorus evaluated an existing bundle stand in order to develop a design to connect two stands using a horizontal structure. The client was provided with PE stamped final drawings with rated capacity.

Encorus’s structural team evaluated a proposed method for lifting various sizes of aluminum split rings, and proposed a number of alternative methods with estimated costs for design, fabrication, and procurement of parts.

Specific Project Tasks

  • Design of transportation fixture, structural steel fixture/pallet, exterior mast-type jib crane, and bundle stand
  • Estimated costs for design and procurement of parts
  • Made site visits and conducted interviews with fixtures’ operators.
