GE Bradford Service Equipment Replacement

Bradford, PA

Project Objective

This project’s scope was to design the replacement of the electrical service equipment for the General Electric Bradford facility. The project encompassed the installation of new 2.4kV breakers and relays in a new switchgear structure and installation of new feeders to an existing 34.5kV power transformer to modernize the facility’s electrical distribution infrastructure. Project tasks included the design layout of 2.4kV walk-in switchgear; design of cable and conduit runs for 2.4kV circuits; construction drawings; narrative on installation; and field inspections.

Unique Project Features

Ice falling from the roof and aging infrastructure requiring convoluted cable routing posed challenges.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus developed a “shed” to protect the cables from falling ice. In addition, a combination of conduit and cable in tray was designed to meet the challenging cable routing requirements. A special code case of 2.4kV cable was utilized.
