Nike Base BU-34/35 Silo Inspections

Project Objective
The purpose of the project was to perform a structural investigation of five silos in order to render an engineering opinion regarding their condition relative to cleanup and demolition operations. The scope of the evaluation included performing on-site investigations and review of available information and subsequent evaluations.
Unique Project Features
The Former Niagara Falls-Buffalo Defense Nike Battery Unit BU-34/35 was scheduled for demolition. The former underground magazines, referred to as silos, are located at the former launch area. The investigation required air monitors and confined space entry. Each silo was filled with water and had to be drained before entry proceeded.
Encorus Group Solution
Encorus staff performed site visits to obtain field measurements and other information. The observations were documented and compiled into a report for use by the demolition crew.
