Project Objective

Work being performed at the project site required the location of underground utilities prior to construction.

Unique Project Features

Non-Destructive examinations were performed to eliminate need for the ground to be excavated, preventing damage to unknown utility lines.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus personnel utilized Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), radio detection, and Magnetic Flux Detection to determine the approximate locations of existing underground utilities at the facility. The findings were compared to existing site drawings. A report was prepared for the client detailing the results of the investigation, which included both 2D and 3D renderings of the underground utility findings at the site.

Project Objective

The deaerator storage tank at the North American Brewery was due for a required inspection.

Unique Project Features

The inspector was able to calculate the remaining life for the areas that were identified as damaged, as well as recommend a time for replacement.

Encorus Group Solution

An API-510 Certified Inspector performed the inspection on the deaerator storage tank. The inspector performed internal, external, and ultrasonic thickness testing on the tank. Major deficiencies were found in the form of severe pitting. The Ultrasonic Thickness Testing was performed on the vessel heads and shell. In addition, Fluorescent Magnetic Particle inspection was performed on all of the internal weld seams.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus Group staff used Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), a Magnetic Flux meter (used to detect metal objects), and Radio Utility Locator (which uses sound waves to locate underground objects), to find buried lines and other objects on site. This was used to locate as many objects and utilities as possible in order to determine the directional drill routing for the installation of the new gas line on site.
